Combinatie techniek + conditie
Zoals je al weet is conditie essentieel om betere prestatie te kunnen leveren. In combinatie met (nog) betere skills en vaardigheden zal je een nog hoger kunnen bereiken op je mountainbike.
Techniek train je best in het begin van het seizoen. Hierop kan je best wekelijks specifiek trainen. Zoek een bos, duin, (eigen)tuin, of een toffe locatie om te oefenen op bunny hop, kleine jumps, wheelies, balansoefeningen, bochten, enz. Eens je dicht bij je doel komt zoek je een wedstrijdparcours op en waarop je specifieke techniektraining kan doen tegen je verzuringsgrens (en erover :)) Je ontdekt dan snel je zwakke punten waarop je dan intensiever kan trainen.
Het beste moment om deze vaardigheden te trainen is wanneer je goed uitgerust bent. Bij vermoeidheid of overbelasting is er onvoldoende focus om je skills maximaal aan te spreken. Dit kan weerslag geven op het mentale front en veroorzaakt snel blessures.
Tip! Zorg altijd voor voldoende opwarming en cooling-down en begin steeds met gekende, haalbare oefeningen alvorens de real stuff aan te pakken.
Durf aan je techniek te werken. Durf falen. Zoek je limieten en die van je bike.

Zonder een goede techniek kan je moeilijker een goede mountainbiker zijn.
Je kan een superconditie hebben, de beste bergop zijn maar zonder afdalingskills zal het niet makkelijk zijn mooie resultaten neer te zetten. Techniek leren en onderhouden is de boodschap. Een minimum van 1 maal per week tijdens winterperiode is aan te raden. De combinatie met een rustige duurtraining is zorgt ook voor variatie. Zo kan je na een goede opwarming wat technische vaardigheden trainen en nadien overgaan naar een ander onderdeel van je trainingsschema zoals een intervaltraining. Beiden zijn zelfs goed combineerbaar.
Zonder een goede conditie kan je geen goede mountainbiker zijn.
Anderzijds heb je een goede conditie nodig om je techniek naar een volgend niveau te brengen. Hoe sneller je recupeert hoe beter je kan concentreren. Maar ook bij bunny hops bijvoorbeeld is goede conditie nodig anders stijgt hartslag zodanig dat je sneller dan verwacht in verzuring treedt. En zoals eerder beschreven indien vermoeid zal je sneller fouten maken.
Conclusie
Door middel van techniektraining in combinatie met een gestructureerd trainingsschema wordt je een (nog) beter mountainbiker.
